Greetings to All!

Hope you are all well on this lovely sunny Wednesday. Cissy and I are going to go for a walk in a little while. I think walks are wonderful!  They are a time to breathe deeply, to put one foot in front of the other and open our eyes and allow ourselves to see God: a bird in the tree, a bloom on a vine, the sparkle of light on the water, the smile of someone we meet on the way. Walks are good for us – they make us feel better………………….and they are always a time of prayer.

So, this week we are having our first planning meeting for what we have come to call our JESUS MEAL.  This will be the third time we have done this meal on Maundy Thursday, and this year we are excited about inviting the community! I want to ask you to pray that they will come, and that we can share a time learning and laughing together as we remember the last meal of Jesus with his disciples. I first encountered this meal at a place called The Antiquities Center in LaGrange. Now called the Biblical History Center, it is an amazing archaeological museum that explores the way people would have lived in Jesus’ day. At the end of the tour, they invite you to sit around a three sided table to share in an experience very much like the disciples and Jesus would have had at that last supper in the upper room before he was arrested. The way we sit, the delicious food we eat, the scriptures we read, the interesting traditions we share, even the way we say the blessing are all reminiscent of how the meal would have actually been. It gives us a chance to get into the heads of the disciples so that we are better prepared for the remainder of the week and what happened when they left the table and went with Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane. It is truly a meaningful experience that we are excited to share with our friends in Whitesburg!

We will be having the meal at the Rec Center (Thursday, March 28), so there will be plenty of room!

Take care, my friends! I love you all. Sunday School is at 9:55, and all are so welcome! Then, in worship, and second in our sermon series, The Third Day, will be Simon Peter. Hope to see you all in church on Sunday. I promise you, Peter has a lot to teach us about ourselves! More than we probably want to know!!!

Have a great rest of the week, and please, please pray for me as I pray for you!

Peace,

Martha
